Chiemsee Summer
Can you feel the Love?
Summer means Festival where I'm from - and there is just the right festival happening at the perfect venue! In Bavaria right next to a lake, Chiemsee, ever since I can think there are people going to Chiemsee Reggae Summer. Over the years it has changed from reggae to all sorts of music genres.
There is Hip Hop, Metal, Electro, Reggae and all sorts of artists making the 4 day festival one of my most precious memories of summer 2k16,
It was magical. And the scenery looked like it was set in a desert, but it is actually right on the border of the Alps next to the biggest lake in Bavaria. Home, sweet home!
Check out their lineup for next year on their website.
Personally I think that those pictures are worth being in their campaign for next year, but whatever.
Finally, I got to see one of my favourite bands. I'd post my slightly intoxicated snapchat video of me hysterically singing to my favourite song by Sum 41, but let's not even go there...
A music festival offering such a wide range of genres brings together various types of audiences. At Chiemsee Summer metalheads learn how to shuffle and Hobos are introduced to head banging.
The journey starts long before the festival does. Using a WhatsApp Messaging Service, everyone can subscribe and get exclusive ticket offers, Lineup updates, EarlyBird Tickets and many more perks. The Chiemsee Summer Team wants to be as close as possible to their audience - us! So we can join their mobile services in order to get updated throughout the year about their contests and newest bands all around the Chiemgau. As a fan and loyal customer, I subscribed and I received three messages so far which I find very appropriate. But opinions split. Most of my friends weren't willing to share their phone number because they considered the offer abusive of their personal information. So clearly we have two parties here:
The ones that are more than willing to receive information in exchange for sharing their phone number and the ones who protect their personal data.
Although the messaging service simple requires your first name and WhatsApp-registered phone number, this is crucial information for people. Although the approach is clever because visitors won't have to share their address, people are sensitive about giving their phone numbers away. The quick solution in case of regrets is clearly mapped out on Chiemsee Summer's website where it says if you send "Stop" to their domain it will stop sending you updates.
I took the liberty of demonstrating this for you:
PS: It worked perfectly.
While the main stages at the festival are aimed to attract an international audience using Steve Aoki, the Camping Stage is made for local bands to make their first step into being recognised as performers.
Using their YouTube channel, Chiemsee Summer publishes Promotions, Aftermovies, as well as Skydivers, Photographers and local Bloggers to talk about the Festival and share their moments and memories, getting a bigger audience every year.
Supported by the most influential Bavarian TV channel BR and the event organisation PULS, their aim is to spread positive energy and show equality of people regardless of sexual orientation, race or beliefs. Using original content, Chiemsee Summer talks to their audiences by talking to You!
By starting the FREE HUGS movement, ambassadors are sent out to hug people and "share love". The movements naturally spreads across the camping area, the stages and all visitors using the positive and persuasive attitude and therefore more and more people join the #freehugs guerrilla campaign
(like Social Media platforms show)
